Welcome to The TALK KC
Welcome to The Talk KC — where mentorship meets meaning, and Black boys are reminded every month that they are powerful, loved, and not alone.
This isn’t your typical program. We meet in barbershops, schools, and trusted community spaces to hold real conversations, build real relationships, and create a real path forward for our young kings. Through powerful storytelling, culturally relevant reading, and consistent mentorship, The Talk KC provides a village of support for boys in grades 6–12.
Every session is a safe space to grow, laugh, learn, and lead. Whether you're here as a parent, mentor, volunteer, or student — you’re part of something bigger now.
Welcome to the family.
Welcome to the village.
Welcome to The Talk KC.
About Our Founder
“Tay” Neal is a husband, father, educator, activist, and community builder with a heart for Black boys and a vision for liberation through literacy and brotherhood. A Kansas City native, Tay knows firsthand the power of mentorship, representation, and safe spaces — because he once needed them himself.
With years of experience in classrooms, barbershops, and community spaces, Tay has mentored youth across the country and understands the unique challenges Black boys face navigating identity, pressure, and systems that often misunderstand them. He created The Talk KC to do something about it — not by lecturing, but by listening, connecting, and reclaiming the narrative.
Under his leadership, The Talk KC blends culture, care, and curriculum into something special: a monthly space where Black boys are seen, heard, and held accountable — not just for who they are, but for who they’re becoming.
Tay is committed to building a village where every young Black boy knows he matters. And he’s just getting started.
